Source data explorer

General info

The interface for accessing data through queries is divided into two parts:

  • on the left side there is a list of available datasets and previously saved queries;
  • on the right side of the screen there is a work area, the content of which depends on the specific request.

List of queries

The list of datasets and queries is on the left side of the window. This list is two-level: datasets are on the first level, data queries are on the second.

  • Dataset A
    • Query A1
    • Query A2
  • Dataset B
    • Query B1
    • Query B2

To view the list of queries, click on the name of the dataset you are interested in.

You will see a list of queries for this dataset. This list displays queries that you have previously created or requests that other users have made available to everyone.

In this list you can

Create query

To create a new query, click the button located to the right of the dataset name:

The query workspace will be updated according to the structure of the dataset.

For more information about what parts the query workspace consists of, see the Query Workspace section. The name of the new query is generated automatically. You can change it by clicking on it and entering a new name.

In a data query you can

Query workspace

The query workspace consists of several parts:

  • Query title and control buttons
  • Filters
  • Time series table
  • Time points table

The query title is located at the top left and can be edited. The control buttons are located on the right side, they consist of (from right to left):

  • Button to save changes in the current query
  • Button to save a copy of the current query
  • Data download button
  • Button to switch to filter mode based on technical metrics
  • Button to switch to filter mode based on dimensions (active by default)

Buttons for switching between filtering modes are located to the left of the action buttons. Clicking on the (bars) button will display filters with dataset dimensions:

When you click on the (sliders) button, filters with technical metrics of time series will be displayed

Dimension filters

When filtering based on dimensions, the filter pane displays lists of the items of each dimension of the dataset.

Each such list consists of

  • Text to search by code or name
  • List of dimension items
  • Field with total number of items
  • Field with the number of elements available for selection, taking into account current query filters

In the dimension items list, for each item, the following is displayed:

  • Item code
  • Item name (may be excluded in the settings)
  • The number of time series that are available for this element, taking into account the set filters

To include a dimension element in the filter, click on the checkbox at the beginning of the line.

To exclude the time series associated with an element from the selection, click on the checkbox at the beginning of the line while holding down the Ctrl key.

To select multiple elements in a row:

  • Press and hold the Shift key
  • Select the first element
  • Select the last element
  • Release the Shift key

Metric filters

For each time series in the system, additional metrics are calculated that characterize it from a technical point of view.

These are the following indicators:

  • Number of time points
  • First period
  • Last period
  • Time series delay - defined as the difference in periods between the last date in the entire dataset and the last date in the time series
  • Time series length - the difference in periods between the last period and the first period in the time series
  • Density of time series values - the ratio of the number of observations to its length

Time series and time points

By default, the time series table displays the first 500 records that match the conditions set in the filters.

At the bottom of the time series table is displayed

  • Total number of time series in the dataset
  • Number of time series matching the current filters
  • Number of time series loaded into the table

In the columns of the table, for compactness, only the code of the dimension elements is displayed. Their names, if any, are visible in the filter list.

Export to Excel

To export data to Excel, click the (download) button at the top right of the window.

A dialog box will open in which you can track the status of the file generation. If you are downloading a large amount of data, you can close this dialog and check the status of the file on the downloads page.

If the data export is completed, then a link to download this file becomes available in the far right column.

Copy query

To save a copy of the query, click the Save As button. The system will create a copy of the query with the same filter settings as the original query, but with the generated name.

You can change the name of the query - its title is editable.

Open query

To open a previously saved query, click on the line with this query in the list of queries.

If this query was created by you, you will be able to save changes to it after editing the filtering settings.

If this request is public and created by another user, you will be able to view it, download the data, and save a copy of it

Share query

Before sharing a query, please change the name of the query to reflect its results.

To make a query available to other users, click on the (share) button in the list of queries:

To stop sharing your query, click this button again.

Delete query

To delete a query, click the (delete) button in the list of queries:
